April 23, 2013 James & Kezia
When James and Kezia started to chat with me about ideas for their engagement session I got excited – couldn’t wait to document this session! James sent me photos that were their inspiration for their engagement session… not photos of other engagement sessions though – photos from the movie Drive with Ryan Gosling, from my trip to Africa and more. They wanted neon lights in the city at night. I’m always up for a challenge – and so we met downtown Toronto this past weekend and went on a hunt for funky lights in and around the city. I was also excited because after photographing James’ sister’s Jen’s wedding last year, I knew these two were great to photograph!

March 2, 2013 Greg and Jiney
A few years ago I had the honour of documenting Dave and Vivian‘s wedding in New York, and now it’s time for one of Vivian’s bridesmaids to get married and I was so happy to be invited back to document her day! It was great to meet Greg and Jiney in lower Manhattan last week for their engagement session. Despite pouring rain ALL day, we managed to have some fun indoors! Looking forward to their Spring wedding!
I love Jiney’s laugh!

August 16, 2012 Ken and Brandi
Ken and Brandi are getting married this weekend – and I can’t wait to photograph their day at the beautiful Estates of Sunnybrook. But first, I wanted to share their recent engagement session. It was fun to discover Ken is from Caledonia – right near me – and so we met at his parent’s property and just walked around their neighbourhood for their photo session. I love documenting places that have significance to people – and this is where Ken grew up and has lots of memories! And it’s a beautiful spot…. as you can see!

June 7, 2012 Les and Heather
When I had chatted with Les and Heather about their engagement session, we decided to incorporate both of them… you see, Less is all city. Heather is more nature loving. So we started in Toronto at Union Station and went for a glam, downtown, formal look. And then switched heels for runners, suit for jeans, and hopped the ferry to the Toronto Island. All day it had called for rain – but it held off until we finished – and made for some great skies!
First off was Union Station! Such a gorgeous spot!
These red stairs were a fun find!
Loved the monogrammed shirt and fun cufflinks!
Then it was off to the island – first hopping on the streetcar! (this first picture – love the guy peeking at them!)
There were only two other people on the ferry – so nice and quiet!
And then it was back on the ferry for the ride home!

May 10, 2012 Steve & Alicia
It was so fun to meet Steve & Alicia recently for their engagement photos. They are both avid baseball fans – and so we decided to meet at the baseball diamond. I love when couples incorporate their interests into their photos – telling a bit of their story!
I love how they’re always laughing!!
Behind the baseball diamond was some great fields – where we found some gorgeous trees, rocks and other goodies!
Alicia has this hilarious habit of leaping into Steve’s arms… if he’s ready or not!
Can’t wait for your wedding next month!

May 1, 2012 Hamilton and Jennifer
I knew Jennifer years ago as a young girl – so it was so exciting to meet up with her now years later to see her now a beautiful young woman and completely in love. I mean – her and Hamilton are perfect together! They have such a natural connection between them – always laughing and so relaxed. And when I say always laughing – I mean Jen’s big laugh is in almost every single photo. Love it! Such joy! I can not wait for their wedding this October!
We had plans to meet downtown Oakville around where they had their first date – but when Jennifer emailed me to say how gorgeous the orchard photos I had posted recently were – we changed plans. Unfortunately the pink cherry blossoms were gone, but the beautiful white pear blossoms were still here. All day that day it rained and was cloudy and just looked ominous. We debated to postpone it – but didn’t want to lose the blossoms. We went with it – and so glad we did! The sky was gorgeous, and the nice soft overcast light beautiful. And at one point the sun just burst through and lit up all the trees like they were glowing. It was a chilly evening but SO beautiful!
I’ll leave you with these two which sums up Hamilton & Jen perfectly…. lots of laughs!

April 5, 2012 Mike and Bonnie
I really enjoyed meeting Mike and Bonnie a few months ago – perhaps it’s because not only are they both pilots (like most of my family) but they both fly the same plane my dad flew for years before retiring. So cool! We had hoped for a snowy engagement session but snow never happened this winter! So instead we went out on a gorgeous Spring day in and around their neighbourhood in Liberty Village. I love images in your own neighbourhood as they tell part of your story. If you move away, you can look back and remember your favourite hangouts, your home, your memories. Love it!
People are always so nervous at the start of an engagement session. But these are the very first images from the session – they were that relaxed and amazing for the camera the whole time!
I love to have my sessions around 5:30-6pm. Such gorgeous light!
A quick wardrobe change and adding a family member, Saya before heading out again. Here they are at home.
And we’re off to the park! Saya was so excited!
And I’ll leave you with one of my favourites!

March 20, 2012 Adam & Livia
I was excited to meet Adam and Livia – so far, we had only communicated by email. I knew I liked them though already as Livia shared a bit of their story (I love hearing people’s stories) and about their gorgeous upcoming wedding at Livia’s family property (I also adore outdoor weddings!).
We met downtown Hamilton and wandered and explored – I love doing this! ANd what a gorgeous day to explore – hard to believe two weeks ago we rescheduled their photo session as it was too cold… and now Livia was in a tank top! Gorgeous!
These two are adorable together… with Livia’s quick laugh and great dimples, and Adam’s shy demeanor… I loved watching them interact!
Livia and Adam have known each other since they were little kids as Adam is Livia’s brother’s best friend! Another reminder to me to watch who my girls hang out with….
Love these shoes Livia got in Italy!
Hard to believe these next few were taken in downtown Hamilton and not some open meadow!
Adam and Livia, I loved our afternoon together and can’t wait for September!

January 13, 2012 Dave and Beatriz
Many years ago… I babysat three little cousins for two entire summers (their little sister came along afterwards). They lived a few hours away, so I went and lived with their family and would babysit these three munchkins Monday-Friday all day for two summers when I was headed into grade 8 and grade 9. How their parents trusted me with their kids is beyond me. But they did, and we all survived.
Now… fast forward a couple years, and I have photographed the weddings of the two sisters I babysat those summers long ago, and now it was time for their brother to also get married!
First in 2008 there was Kathryn and Aaron’s wedding – complete with a boat ride, canoes, jumping on the trampoline, a wild storm, and their family cabin.
Then last year, I got to photograph Jeff and Christina’s wedding complete with s’mores, loads of snow, snowmobiles, boots and more snow!
So it was a complete honour to now document David’s wedding in El Salvador now! But first… let’s start with their engagement photos.
David met Beatriz (Bea) on a missions trip to Guatemala with Living Water Ministries (the people behind those awesome Advent Conspiracy videos!). David was down for just a week from his home in Northwestern Ontario – and Bea was serving there for a year from her home in El Salvador. By the week’s end they both knew that this was more than a friendship. They took time to get to know each other through Skype and emails… and then David came down to El Salvador to see if there was anything in person. Needless to say at the end of the visit things were more official. Soon enough, David had moved to Latin America where he has been since. Our uncle and aunt (John & Naomi) were able to help Dave & Bea get teaching jobs in Panama where they are still working.
I just absolutely love that in the most unexpected location – a foreign country to both – these two were brought together. To see them together, you KNOW that they were meant to be. I can’t wait to share their wedding images and story – but for now… enjoy some engagement photos we took in and around a restaurant one night in El Salvador!
I asked Dave to spin Bea – Dave is extremely competitive – he whipped her around so fast (and with one arm) I could barely snap as I was laughing so hard. I had to remind him it wasn’t a competition and to be a bit more gentle!
The best photo bomb… Dave’s sister and brother-in-law ran to sneak in the background of this picture. ha ha!
